During the Second World War German occupation, the factory was taken by a German firm that manufactured armaments and engine components. Poles, employed there, organised resistance and despite the reigning terror, worked slowly and inefficiently.
In 1944, the retreating Germans dismantled and removed major factory equipment and destroyed the buildings together with any machinery left.
In 1945, a group of former employees of "FK" began reconstruction of the factory. And so, Fabryka Karabinów i Sprawdzianów (Rifle and Gauge Factory) was born. After several years of production for the needs of the destroyed country and its capital city, the factory began to change its production profile.
In 1948, the factor changed its style to: Fabryka Wyrobów Precyzyjnych im. Generała ¦wierczewskiego ( Precision Product Factory - General ¦wierczewski).
It started with tools and gauges and next came the first slide callipers, micrometers, gauge blocks. Soon, the factory was classified as an enterprise of special importance to the economy.
In 1954, by decree of the Minister of Machine Industry, the production profile of the factory was determined. Since then, metal-working tools and measuring imstruments have been manufactured there.
Since 1956, the factory has exported an ever increasing part of its production, and by end nineteen - sixties it became a giant of the machine industry.
At the beginning of the following decade, the factory became a unit of PONAR-FWP (as the leading entity), transformed subsequently into Tool Industry Combine VIS. Many state of the art machine tools were purchased and substantial funds allocated to research and development. This allowed to improve the quality and increase the production volume significantly.
At the end of nineteen- seventies, the expansion of the factory somewhat faltered, concurrently with the crisis of the entire Polish economy.
In 1989, many factories were split-off from the Combine and other were transformed into companies. The activity of the company was adapted to the requirements of market economy.
